The Serpent Seed Doctrine, a controversial theological belief, asserts that a literal serpent, Satan, physically impregnated Eve, resulting in a lineage distinct from Adam’s. It also appeared in medieval Jewish literature, including the Targum Pseudo-Jonathan.” Let’s delve into just some of the many scriptures that refute this doctrine and explore its potential harms. This false doctrine breeds hatred of others, pride in one’s self, and racism among those who believe it. This doctrine twists the scriptures by means of wrongful interpretation and causes division and disunity.
1. Biblical Foundation: The Genesis Account
The primary passage used to support the Serpent Seed Doctrine is Genesis 3:15, where God pronounces judgment on the serpent, stating that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent’s head. However, this is a prophetic foreshadowing of Christ’s victory over Satan, not a reference to a biological lineage. People need to stop reading the Bible through a conspiracy theory lens, always looking for “hidden knowledge” , and understand that the bible has and always will point to Jesus Christ The Messiah, and our need for Him as fallen humans to be reconciled to a Holy and Righteous God.
2. Line of Cain and Seth: Not Literal Seeds of Satan and Adam
Proponents of the Serpent Seed Doctrine often point to the supposed conflict between the descendants of Cain and Seth as evidence of two distinct lineages. However, this interpretation ignores the broader context of Genesis and the fact that all humanity is ultimately descended from Adam and Eve. I can dispute this entire false doctrine with one verse Genesis 4:1, Now Adam knew(intimately) Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
If you take the time to actually read the Bible and study the scriptures, you would easily be able to dispute this false teaching. The problem I have noticed with those even in my personal life who have fallen into spiritual error is they don’t read the bible, they sign onto Bitchute and Youtube and get their “doctrine” and teachings from other deceived individuals and parrot whatever they teach and take it as gospel. I can also tell you from my own experience that the people who fall into this doctrine are so full of pride, hatred, and racism that it is nothing short of demonic influence, and they are void of all love and that we know is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
3. Christ’s Genealogy: A Unifying Thread
The genealogy of Jesus, as presented in Matthew 1 and Luke 3, links Him directly to the lineage of Adam. If the Serpent Seed Doctrine were accurate, it would create irreconcilable conflicts in Christ’s genealogy, undermining the biblical narrative of redemption. So understand the dangerous spiritual implications around this doctrine, it is ultimately denying Jesus Christ and what the scriptures teach about Him, His deity, and His lineage. And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:3.
Understand, anyone who denies the biblical facts and truth of the Biblical Jesus taught in the Scriptures is in fact denying who he says He is, and that is the spirit of antichrist, which is why you will see followers of this doctrine having so much pride and hatred for their neighbor, deeming themselves to be better than another because of their ethnicity. Another reason why I personally believe that this doctrine is influenced by the spirit of antichrist (not The Antichrist, but the spirit of antichrist which is already at work in the world and has been) is that “this doctrine is frequently used to demonize Jews, and people who are members of non-white races, to justify their mistreatment, abuse, enslavement, or elimination by labeling them Satanic and sub-human.” Anytime the spirit of antichrist is at work within a doctrine or persons, you will undoubtedly find antisemitism in the midst.

4. You are of Your Father, The Devil
Another scripture that is often twisted to support this false doctrine is John 8:44, Jesus addresses the Jews who oppose Him, stating that their father is the devil not in a biological sense but because they share his disobedient and deceitful nature. The scriptures clearly state, in John 3:22-24, that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. No lineage, social status, or ethnicity is exempt from this truth, and any teaching that promotes oneself as better than another is false and not being revealed by the Holy Spirit.
Another scripture that promoters of the serpent seed doctrine twist can be found in 1 John 3:11-12,
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
This is not talking about biological lineage, it is comparing that those who practice a sin such as murder, which this passage is talking about, are doing the works of Satan, evil. Cain’s actions are rooted in jealousy, hatred, rebellion, and disobedience, therefore Cain was doing the will of Satan.
Harms of the Serpent Seed Doctrine:
1. Distortion of the Gospel Message: The Serpent Seed Doctrine introduces a distorted narrative that distracts from the central message of salvation through Christ. It creates unnecessary divisions and distractions within the body of believers.
2. Seeds of Discrimination: Believing in literal seeds of Satan introduces a dangerous potential for discrimination based on perceived spiritual lineage. This contradicts the biblical principles of equality and unity in Christ. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:27-28.
3. Erosion of Christ’s Redemptive Work: By suggesting a separate lineage stemming from Satan, the doctrine undermines the completeness and efficacy of Christ’s redemptive work. It implies that certain individuals are irredeemable due to their supposed lineage.
The Serpent Seed Doctrine lacks solid biblical support and can lead to harmful consequences within the Christian community. It is crucial for believers to focus on the unifying message of the Gospel, recognizing our shared need for redemption through Christ, rather than embracing divisive doctrines that distort biblical truth. The most disheartening thing about those who believe in the false serpent seed doctrine is that they believe that everyone else is of the serpent seed and wicked and irredeemable. Yet those who subscribe to this false doctrine perceiving themselves to be better than everyone else and their denial of the biblical truth of Jesus and his genealogy, actually are within themselves bearing a spiritual seed of the serpent Satan. That is how deception works, you can’t even perceive your own spiritual condition because you are bearing a heart that has been deceived and hardened by false teachings.
